Sherrow Scores 30 in Martin Women's Basketball Victory

A strong fourth quarter lifted the Martin Methodist College RedHawks to a 75-67 decision over visiting Cumberland University in Mid-South Conference women’s basketball play Jan. 9.

With the win, Martin improved to 3-3 overall, 2-3 in the conference.

The score was tied at 51 after three quarters before Martin outscored Cumberland 24-16 in the fourth quarter.

Faith Sherrow led Martin with 30 points. She was perfect in nine free throw tries.

Teammate Laurhen Pickett added 10 points and 14 doubles, while former Giles County High standout Taylor McNairy had eight assists to go with three steals.

For Cumberland, Sydnie Ward had 16 points, Ashlyn Pittman 14 points and Faith Eubank 11 points,

Cumberland hit nine of 17 free throws to Martin’s 18 of 26.
